Sophia Jaffé, raised in a musical family in Berlin, made her debut at the age of seven in the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonie. Her career has been marked by significant awards such as the Leopold Mozart Competition in 2003, the Concours de Genève in 2004, and the Concours Reine Elisabeth in 2005. She has performed with leading orchestras including the RSB and DSO Berlin, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, and many other international ensembles, under conductors like Marek Janowski and Sir Mark Elder. Jaffé is a regular at prestigious festivals and boasts a diverse repertoire encompassing both standard and contemporary works, as well as rediscovered compositions.
Her discography includes an album featuring John Casken’s violin concerto and a debut CD with chamber music works, in collaboration with Björn Lehmann. In 2023, a CD featuring Brahms Sonatas and Clara Schumann’s Romances will be released. Since 2011, she has been a professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main. She received her training from Herman Krebbers in Amsterdam and Stephan Picard at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin. Future projects include sonata evenings with renowned pianists and participation in festivals such as Allegro Vivo in Austria and the International Mendelssohn Festival in Hamburg.
