The Pärnu Music Festival culminates with a grand final concert. The Russian-American concert pianist, Berlin-based Kirill Gerstein, performing Rachmaninoff’s passionate Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with the Estonian Festival Orchestra and Paavo Järvi.

The renowned cellist Alisa Weilerstein will perform as a soloist with the Estonian Festival Orchestra at the first of the two final concerts. This is the first time the acclaimed musician has visited Estonia, and she will present what is considered a pivotal work in the cello repertoire: Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E minor. The American cellist will discuss the unique introspective narrative style of the instrumental concerto, her approach to its tonal qualities, and a special solo cello project that intertwines contemporary music with Bach’s cello suites. Mirian Khukhunaishvili, Järvi Academy conducting course participant, 11 July 2024
Georgian conductor Mirian Khukhunaishvili has recently won the Paavo Järvi Scholarship and the public vote at the international competition held by the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra’s conducting academy.
