Marianne PÄRNA (alto) graduated in singing from the Georg Ots Music School, Tallinn, under Linda Toomsalu. More recently, she has continued her education with Professor Allan Vurma. During her studies Marianne sang in the Estonian Radio Choir and has also sung for eight years in the Estonian National Opera Choir. In 2005 she was invited to audition for the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, subsequently becoming a full member.
Marianne appreciates the entire EPCC repertoire, but particularly close to her heart is Arvo Pärt’s ‘Kanon pokajanen’ and ‘Te Deum’, which she believes sound beautiful and genuine. Marianne particularly relishes performing solo; she has sung in many large-scale works, such as Bach’s ‘Johannes Passion’, Vivaldi’s ‘Beatus vir’, Pärt’s ‘Miserere’, ‘Litany’, ‘Passio’ and ‘Kanon pokajanen’, Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Requiem, Rachmaninov’s ‘All-Night Vigil’, Pärt-Wilson’s ‘Adam’s Passion’, Tõnu Kõrvits’s ‘Moorland Elegies’, Igor Stravinsky ‘Requiem canticles’ etc.
