Emma Yoon, born in 1992 in Seoul, South Korea and began learning the violin at the age of 5 in New Zealand. After gaining her Bachelor of Music in performance violin at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand studying under Stephen Larsen in 2011, she moved to Germany in 2012 after being accepted into the Conservatory for Music, Theatre and Media in Hannover (Hochschule für Musik, Theatre und Median Hannover) studying under Professor Elisabeth Kufferath. She received both Bachelor and Masters Degree at the HMTMH and is currently in her Konzertexam studies. As prize winner and Audience Prize winner of the New Zealand National Concerto Competition in 2010, Emma made her solo debut with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra performing the Barber Violin Concerto.

As first violinist of the Lazarus String Quartet (2009-2014) who won the Pettman/Royal Overseas League Arts Scholarship in 2010 were then flown to the UK for a concert tour in 2011. The Quartet also began their Chamber music Masters at the Hochschule für Musik studying under Professor Oliver Wille. The quartet was taken on by the ProQuartet Association in France and regularly participated in the ProQuartet Professional String Quartet Training courses in Paris, France studying with Professor Eberhard Feltz and Valentin Erben. The Lazarus String Quartet made their France debut in 2013 performing in Salle-Gaveau in Paris and returned back to New Zealand in 2013 for nation-wide tour performing in 12 concerts all around the country with Chamber Music New Zealand. Having participated in numerous masterclasses for both solo and string quartet, she has worked with artists such as Pinchas Zukerman, Ida Haendel, Donald Weilerstein, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt and Mikhail Kopelman.

She has given numerous solo and chamber music concerts in Europe, United Kingdom, USA and New Zealand in halls St-Martin-in-the-Fields London, Salle Gaveau Paris for music festivals i.e Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Frenswegen Sommerakademie, ProQuartet Paris, Convivium Musicum Serbia and the International Akaroa Summer Festivals. In the summer of 2016, Emma was on the faculty for the Anchorage Chamber Music Festival in USA teaching both solo and chamber music.

Since March 2017, Emma won the Academy position with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and is also currently a member of the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover as a Praktikum intern.
