Mari Adachi is one of the leading violists in Japan. She is active as a soloist and chamber musician, and she joined the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra as the Guest Principal Violist from the 2021/2022 season. She released her first CD Winterreise (ART UNION) in 2018 and her second album with Bach’s solo pieces will be released under T-TOC RECORDS this August. She is very passionate about her solo recitals boasting unique programmes and different concepts, including repertoire spanning from the Baroque era to contemporary music. She was educated in Tokyo, Vienna and Lausanne and she worked as the Associate Principal Violist at the Tirol Symphony Orchestra in Innsbruck from 2013 to 2015. She joined the Estonian Festival Orchestra conducted by Paavo Järvi in 2016 and has performed with them at the Pärnu Music Festival and the Proms as well as on the European tour, Japan tour and recording sessions. During the Japan tour, she performed a duet by Mozart with Midori for the Pre-Concerts. In 2019, she performed a piano trio with Ryuichi Sakamoto and the performance was broadcast on NHK BS Premium.
