Since 2012, cellist Māra Botmane has been a member in the Latvian State Chamber Orchestra Sinfonietta Rīga. In addition to the contemporary instrument, she also plays the Baroque cello and regularly performs under Māris Kupčs in the orchestra Collegium Musicum Riga.

Māra Botmane earned her bachelor’s degree in 2013 at Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music under Diana Ozoliņa. In 2020, she also obtained a master’s degree in Early Music. In 2018, she graduated from Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts where she studied with professors Jan Ickert and Kristin von der Goltz. She has also expanded her knowledge at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest. 

As a member of various chamber ensembles, Botmane has participated in several international festivals. Notably, she actively performs with Tempus Balticus and Latvian Sound Quartet. She is also a frequent performer with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra where she serves as a guest principal cellist, leading the cello group.

In 2020, Māra Botmane’s outstanding ensemble work earned her a nomination for the Grand Music Award in Latvia.
