Joonatan Rautiola has studied saxophone at the Paris Conservatory with Claude Delangle and at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki with Pekka Savijoki, where he now teaches saxophone and chamber music. Greatly influenced by singing, he also holds a degree in classical voice pedagogy. A prizewinner at international competitions (Dinant, Düsseldorf, Nova Gorica), Joonatan Rautiola has appeared in recitals and as a concerto soloist in many different countries. He eagerly takes part in projects combining music and other forms of art and has premiered many new works. Gravity Groove, Joonatan Rautiola’s recently published recital album with the pianist Marko Hilpo, has received critical acclaim.
